Connecting Speaking Standards to Reading and Writing: MD and DC

Many teachers have a difficult time justifying time for academic discourse as part of their curriculum, despite the research supporting its use.   In Maryland and DC, the speaking standards are directly aligned to the reading and writing standards.   This chart provides some of the connections to support administrator and teachers in aligning the use of student collaboration with their reading and writing curricula.
