Privacy Policy

Updated 11th September 2026

1. About this policy

Inspired Instruction provides professional development, instructional coaching, and curriculum support to schools and districts. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.

It applies to our website at inspiredinstruction.com, our Applied Learning Platform (ALP) at inspiredinstruction.ai, and the communications we send in connection with our services.

ALP is a professional tool for educators. It is not a student-facing product and is not designed to hold student records.

Two companion documents sit alongside this policy: our Educator Data Commitments, which set out the promises we make to the educators who use ALP, and our Text Message Terms, which govern our optional SMS program.

2. Our commitments to educators

These are the promises this policy is built on. The full statement, including how each one is implemented, is published as our Educator Data Commitments.

  • We do not sell educator personal information, and we never have.
  • We do not use information from ALP for advertising. ALP contains no advertising and no advertising or tracking technology. Our public marketing website uses standard analytics and advertising technologies, described in section 8.
  • Your individual work stays with you. Reflections, knowledge check answers, and practice simulation transcripts are not shown to your school or district as individual records.
  • We do not provide your work to your employer for evaluation, discipline, or employment decisions.
  • You can see everything we hold about you. Nothing is recorded about your learning that you cannot read.
  • Reporting to schools, districts, and in our published materials is suppressed below a minimum group size, so small groups cannot be identified by inference.
  • We do not collect student personal information, and we do not need it to deliver our services.
  • Our service providers are contractually bound to these same commitments.
  • We will give notice before making material changes to how we use educator information.

5. Information we collect

5.1 Website visitors

If you complete a form, request a call, subscribe to updates, or contact us, we collect the information you provide, typically your name, work email address, organization, role, and the content of your message. We also collect information automatically through the technologies described in section 8.

You can browse the public pages of our website without providing personal information, though the analytics and advertising technologies described in section 8 will still operate unless you control them using the options set out there.

5.2 ALP account holders

Accounts are created when your school, district, or organization enrolls you, or when we create an account for a member of our own team. Depending on your role, we collect:

  • Account information β€” name, work email address, account status, the organization and department you belong to, your role, and invitation and account history.
  • Optional profile information β€” telephone number, profile photograph, and, for Instructional Strategists, a written biography and introduction video.
  • Learning activity β€” the courses and professional development sessions you are enrolled in, your progress, completion status, timestamps, and last activity.
  • Responses and reflections β€” confidence gauges, answers to knowledge checks, responses and attempts, and free-text reflections you write.
  • Practice simulation interactions β€” the text you type and, if you choose to use voice input, the speech you record while completing an AI practice simulation, together with the feedback generated in response. See section 6.
  • Communication preferences and history β€” your notification settings, emails we have sent you, and, if you opt in, text messages.

5.3 Information from your school or district

Your employer may provide us with your name, work email address, role, school, and department in order to create your account and enroll you in professional development. We ask our clients to send us only the information we need, and specifically not to send student information.

5.4 Information collected automatically

  • Log and device data β€” IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, pages viewed, and dates and times of access.
  • Authentication data β€” session identifiers used to keep you signed in.
  • Website analytics and advertising data β€” collected on our marketing website only, as described in section 8.

5.5 Information we do not collect

We do not collect payment card numbers through our website or ALP. We do not collect government identification numbers. We do not collect student names, student work, student images, or student records, and we do not need them in order to provide our services.

6. Artificial intelligence features

Some ALP courses include practice simulations in which a participant works through a realistic professional scenario with an AI-generated conversation partner and receives feedback on the approach they take. Some courses also use automated assistance to help evaluate open responses.

What is processed

The text you type, and any speech you record if you use voice input, during a simulation or open-response activity, together with the course content that provides context.

What it is used for

  • Generating the simulated response and the feedback you receive.
  • Recording your completion and responses in your learning record, so that you can revisit them.

Review by Inspired Instruction

Inspired Instruction staff and internal analytical models may review simulation transcripts and question responses for quality assurance, course improvement, and learning effectiveness. Aggregated and de-identified effectiveness statistics may be used in general marketing materials. Aggregate figures published in this way are suppressed below a minimum group size so that individuals cannot be identified by inference, and we do not publish transcripts, quotations, or excerpts of individual responses.

What it is not used for

  • We do not use simulation responses to make employment, evaluation, disciplinary, or hiring decisions about you.
  • We do not provide simulation responses to your school or district as an individual performance record.
  • We do not permit our AI service providers to use your responses to train their models.

Voice input

Voice input is optional. If you use it, your recording is converted to text so that the simulation can respond. The transcribed text is retained as part of the learning record.

7. How we use information

  • To provide ALP and deliver the professional development your school or district has contracted.
  • To create and administer accounts and enrollments.
  • To record learning progress and provide it to you, and to the administrators described in section 9.
  • To schedule sessions and notify you of dates, materials, and changes.
  • To respond to your questions and support requests.
  • To improve our courses, platform, and services, including by reviewing aggregated and de-identified usage patterns.
  • To send administrative and service messages, and, if you have opted in, text message reminders.
  • To send professional development updates and marketing communications to people who have asked to receive them, or with whom we have a business relationship. You may unsubscribe at any time.
  • To understand how our marketing website is used, and to advertise our services to people who have visited it, as described in section 8.
  • To maintain security, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use information from ALP to serve advertising.

8. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Our marketing website and our platform are configured differently, and the distinction matters.

8.1 The Applied Learning Platform

ALP contains no third-party analytics, advertising, remarketing, or session-recording technology. The only cookies and browser storage ALP uses are those required to sign you in, keep your session active, secure the service, and remember preferences such as your notification settings and where you left off in a course. These cannot be turned off without the platform ceasing to function.

Your activity in ALP is not shared with advertising networks and is not used to target advertising to you anywhere.

8.2 Our marketing website

inspiredinstruction.com uses the following technologies:

  • Website platform β€” Webflow, which hosts the site and sets the cookies necessary for it to operate.
  • Analytics β€” Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which help us understand in aggregate how the site is used.
  • Marketing and customer relationship management β€” HubSpot, which records how visitors interact with our pages and forms and connects that activity to enquiries we receive.
  • Advertising and remarketing β€” Google advertising products and the Meta pixel, which allow us to show Inspired Instruction advertising to people who have previously visited our website, on other websites and platforms.

Because we use remarketing, people who visit our marketing website may later see our advertising elsewhere on the internet, and our advertising partners may set cookies that recognize a browser across websites. This applies to our public marketing website only. It does not apply to ALP.

8.3 Your choices

  • Browser settings β€” most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of ALP will not function.
  • Google advertising β€” you can set preferences at Google Ads Settings, or opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative or the Digital Advertising Alliance.
  • Meta advertising β€” you can adjust ad preferences in your Meta account settings.
  • Cookie preferences β€” you can opt out of analytics and advertising cookies on our marketing website at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the website footer. Your choice is stored in your browser and honored on later visits.

8.4 Do Not Track

Browsers offer a Do Not Track setting, but there is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to it, and we do not respond to Do Not Track signals. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of advertising cookies on our marketing website. You can control tracking using the options in section 8.3. ALP does not track you across websites at all.

9. What your school or district can see

Educators should know exactly what their employer can see in ALP. Administrators at your school or district who hold an ALP administrative role can see:

  • your name, work email address, role, school, and department;
  • which courses and professional development sessions you are enrolled in;
  • your completion status and progress; and
  • attendance at scheduled sessions.

Administrators cannot see your individual free-text reflections, your individual knowledge check answers, or your practice simulation transcripts. Administrators see this content only in aggregate, and aggregate views shown to schools and districts are suppressed below a minimum group size.

Your Instructional Strategist

The Instructional Strategist who leads your professional development sees cohort-level results β€” the pattern of responses across everyone enrolled in your session β€” so that they can tailor the session to the group. Strategists do not see your individual answers, your reflections, or your simulation transcripts.

Cohort-level results shown to a strategist are not suppressed by group size, because a strategist needs the full picture of the group in order to prepare, including for small cohorts. This means that in a small cohort, cohort-level results may make an individual's responses possible to infer. We tell you this plainly so that you can decide what to share. Your strategist uses these results to prepare the session, not to evaluate you, and does not share them with your school or district as individual records.

10. How we share information

  • Service providers β€” companies that host our platform, deliver email, deliver text messages, host video, and provide the AI capabilities described in section 6. They act on our instructions, under contract, and may not use your information for their own purposes. The technology service providers that we use to host, secure and operate our platform change from time to time and may include Digital Ocean, Webflow, Cloudflare, OpenAI, Eleven Labs, Resend, Telnyx, Mux Video, Sentry, and Google.
  • Analytics and advertising partners β€” on our marketing website only, as described in section 8. These partners receive information about website visits through cookies and similar technologies. They do not receive information from ALP.
  • Your school, district, or organization β€” as our client, and as described in section 9.
  • Professional advisers β€” such as legal and accounting advisers, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal and safety β€” where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of any person.
  • Business transfer β€” in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply to the transferred information.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

11. Text message communications

Inspired Instruction offers an optional text message program for ALP participants covering professional development logistics only. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Participation is never required to create an account, enroll, or access materials, and your school or district cannot enroll you on your behalf.

The full program terms, including message frequency, rates, and how to stop messages, are published in our Text Message Terms. This section explains only how we handle the information involved.

What we collect for this program

Your mobile number, your consent record, your ALP account identifier, message delivery status, and any STOP, START, or HELP replies you send.

How we share it, and how we do not

We share your mobile number with the messaging provider that transmits messages on our behalf. That provider acts solely as our service provider, under contract, and only for that purpose.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your text messaging consent with any third party for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. We do not share your mobile number with your school or district for marketing purposes.

Retention and withdrawal

We retain your mobile number while your account is active and you remain opted in. You may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP, by turning text messaging off in your ALP notification settings, or by contacting us at info@inspiredinstruction.com. If you opt out, we retain a record of your number and your opt-out solely to honor your request and demonstrate compliance, for 3 years, and we do not use it to send you messages.

12. Students, children, and education records

ALP is designed for and made available to education professionals aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children.

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe we hold information about a child may contact us at privacy@inspiredinstruction.com.
  • We do not request, require, or need student personal information in order to provide our services, and we do not permit third parties to collect it through our services.
  • We ask that participants not submit student names, student images, or identifiable student work into ALP, including in reflections and open responses. If student information reaches us inadvertently, contact us at privacy@inspiredinstruction.com and we will delete it.
  • To the extent we receive any information from an education record, we act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA, use it only for the purpose our client has contracted, and do not redisclose it except as our client directs or the law requires.
  • Where ALP is used for K-12 school purposes, we comply with state online education service laws, including New Jersey’s, which prohibit targeted advertising and profiling based on information obtained through the service and require deletion of covered information at a school’s request.
  • We do not use any information to serve targeted advertising to students, do not create profiles of students, and do not sell student information.

13. Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information.

  • Encryption of data in transit using industry-standard TLS, and encryption of data at rest.
  • Role-based access controls, so that staff can access only the information their role requires.
  • Access limited to personnel with a business need, subject to confidentiality obligations.
  • Monitoring and logging of platform activity.
  • Backup and recovery are managed using PostgreSQL and takes place daily.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and for legitimate business and legal purposes.

  • ALP account and learning records β€” for the duration of your organization's agreement with us, and then 3 years, unless your organization directs deletion sooner.
  • Responses, reflections, and simulation transcripts β€” 3 years.
  • Text message consent and opt-out records β€” 3 years.
  • Website enquiry and marketing contact records β€” 3 years after last contact.
  • Backups β€” deleted information persists in encrypted backups for up to 35 days before being overwritten.

15. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate;
  • request deletion of your information;
  • obtain a copy of your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent you have given, including for text messages; and
  • object to or restrict certain processing.

To make a request, contact privacy@inspiredinstruction.com. We will verify your identity before acting. Where your account was created by your school or district, we may need to direct your request to them, or notify them of it, because they control that account. We will tell you if that happens.

You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in any message, and from text messages by replying STOP. You cannot opt out of essential service messages while you hold an active account.

California residents

If you are a California resident, you may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. You may request deletion or correction, and you may not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

California law treats certain uses of advertising cookies as β€œsharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because our marketing website uses the advertising and remarketing technologies described in section 8, you may opt out using the controls in section 8.3.

Other states

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights similar to those listed above. We extend the rights in this section to all users regardless of where they live, and we honor opt-out preference signals on our marketing website as described in section 8.4.

16. Security incidents

If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will investigate promptly, take steps to contain and remediate it, and notify affected individuals and the relevant school or district without undue delay, and in any event within the time required by applicable law. We will notify the contracting school or district within 72 hours of confirming an incident, and provide the information they need to meet their own obligations.

17. International users

Our services are provided from and hosted in the United States. If you access them from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, if the changes are material, notify you by email or through ALP before they take effect. We will maintain prior versions and make them available on request.
