Assuring Success on High Stakes Tests for ELA

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the test's layout and expectations, analyze samples of tasks, and engage in guided practice to create their own assessment questions, leaving with effective strategies and activities for student preparation.

This workshop begins with an overview of the test's layout and expectations before participants take a deep dive into all sections of the assessment. Participants will view and discuss samples the tasks. Guided practice will also be provided for participants to create their own assessment questions for both reading and writing. Teachers will walk away with new and effective strategies and activities for preparing their students.

  • Lack of familiarity with the format and expectations of the assessment

  • Challenges in aligning instruction with the standards and question types

  • Insufficient student exposure to the tools and task types used in the digital test environment
