Too frequently classroom observations are followed up by a short report and then teaching moves on with the report stashed away in a desk or as a forgotten email. Observations, though, are an important part of a broader feedback loop that is a powerful professional learning experience that builds teacher capacity. Just like the feedback we give to students, administrators and instructional leaders can use observations and the resulting feedback to help provide individualized learning and coaching opportunities for teachers. This resource shares a flowchart showing steps in a feedback loop that has the goal of ensuring consistent implementation of practices to promote student success.
