Strategic Reading Across the Curriculum

Participants will gain cross-discipline reading strategies to enhance student comprehension and engagement with texts, supporting students to master the English Language Arts standards through before, during, and after reading techniques.

All teachers are teachers of reading within their content areas, and the Standards for English Language Arts feature specific requirements for teachers of other disciplines to address while reading with their students. This workshop provides specific reading strategies that can fit seamlessly into the content areas, supporting students and helping them extract more from texts. Participants will explore before, during, and after reading strategies to assist students as they learn content through reading.
