Underlying Needs for Stronger Family-School Partnerships

  • Negative First Impressions & Lack of Trust: Front-line staff often shape perceptions before students or families ever reach classroom doors, yet may lack strategies to build rapport quickly.

  • Conflict & High-Stress Interactions: School support personnel regularly encounter upset or stressed individuals (parents, students, visitors) without formal training in de-escalation or conflict management.

  • Inconsistent Messaging & Culture Reinforcement: Without clear, consistent approaches, messages about school values can become diluted or contradictory across different touchpoints.

This workshop helped me better understand the challenges families face and gave me practical strategies to strengthen communication and engagement. I now feel more confident in building supportive partnerships with families to improve student success.
