A question that all administrators and educators ponder is: How can we learn what students know and are able to do on every grade level?  This workshop is designed to support teachers as they discover the power of common assessments and how they can transform their teaching practice.

Common assessments are traditionally created through the collaborative efforts of teachers and administrators, and are utilized across a school or district to measure learning and growth.  In this workshop, participants will explore the assessment development process, including how to create assessments that are aligned with specific standards, select appropriate test items, and determine the level of rigor.  The many benefits of common assessments will be explored, including the consistent measurement of student progress, improved communication among teachers, and identification of areas in need of improvement.

This constructive workshop offers several opportunities for collaboration, as participants will work together to create effective assessment items for their grade level and content area.  They will also dive into the nitty-gritty details of assessments, such as how to develop distractors and ensure that assessments are fair and unbiased.  Additionally, participants will learn how to utilize future planning time to enrich the assessment process and make the most of the results.  They will discover how to use data from the assessments to drive instructional decisions, identify student strengths and weaknesses, and personalize learning for each student.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to develop and utilize common assessments effectively.   Don’t miss out on this opportunity to take teaching and learning to the next level and create a lasting impact on your students’ learning!
