As a result of this work, educators will design lessons and learning experiences that engage all students while appropriately challenging gifted learners, ensuring advanced students receive meaningful opportunities to extend their thinking and potential. Teachers will leave with practical strategies and instructional approaches that support differentiation across subject areas and address the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of gifted students.
Workshop Description
This professional development workshop helps teachers design lessons, programs, and activities that engage all learners while challenging gifted students. Participants explore characteristics that distinguish gifted learners and discuss how to meet their cognitive, emotional, and social needs within the general education setting. Even when gifted students attend pull-out programs part of the day, they are “gifted all of the time.” The session equips educators with research-based strategies and classroom techniques that can be implemented across all subject areas to ensure every learner is appropriately supported and challenged.

Educators will confidently identify the characteristics and needs of gifted learners while designing differentiated instruction that compacts, extends, and enriches curriculum to maintain appropriate levels of challenge. They will also implement practical strategies such as flexible grouping and higher-order questioning to promote deeper engagement and critical thinking.
