The revised NJSLS-ELA includes key shifts towards enhanced K-5 foundational reading skills that are aligned to the Science of Reading. In this workshop, participants will unpack the standards and explore how the updated Foundational Skills for Reading (RF) and Foundational Skills for Writing (WF) connect to the cognitive research behind the Science of Reading. In addition, participants will walk away with specific, evidence-based practices that support each standard as well as instructional strategies and activities to develop mastery of foundational skills.
