Participants will learn how to integrate mindfulness practices into daily instruction in order to improve student behavior and academic focus. After a review of the research base, participants will actively engage in mindfulness activities and have the opportunity to discuss how application of these practices would look in their classroom, including the benefits and possible obstacles. Next, we will explore daily instructional practices and routines through the lens of social emotional learning.  For example, formative assessment practices such as Do Now's, Exit Tickets, and self-assessment will be presented with a reflective focus. Finally, participants will leave with an action plan for integrating mindfulness practices into their existing routines and curriculum.
