Research shows that family engagement is directly related to student achievement. This workshop will focus on how teachers can create a culture of openness and support for all families, so that they in turn can support their students academic and social emotional growth. Specific communication techniques will be reviewed. Participants will discuss the obstacles they face when trying to engage families and will explore various strategies to address them. Teachers will leave with an action plan for creating a family-friendly learning environment.
