Differentiating for Multilingual Learners

Educators learn the tools necessary to meet the diverse needs of multilingual learners in the general classroom.

This workshop equips educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to meet the diverse needs of multilingual learners (MLs) in the general education classroom. Participants explore the importance of differentiation in supporting academic achievement and language development. The session includes a deep dive into assessment practices, the use of the "assessment loop," and strategies for delivering tailored feedback. Through instructional videos, real classroom examples, and planning templates, educators develop an actionable plan for integrating differentiation into upcoming lessons.

Core Needs Addressed

  • Generic instruction that doesn’t meet the varied proficiency levels of multilingual learners

  • Lack of clarity on how to assess and adapt instruction based on language acquisition

  • Limited teacher confidence in selecting appropriate scaffolds and feedback for MLs

  • Insufficient classroom structures to support both content mastery and language development simultaneously

Key Learnings

  1. Mastering the Assessment Loop
Educators will learn how to use formative assessments and student responses to inform immediate instructional adjustments and provide “just right” feedback that supports language development.

  2. Designing Differentiated Lessons
Participants will explore strategies to modify content, process, and product based on language proficiency, using videos and case studies to see these practices in action.

  3. Creating Actionable Plans for ML Support
Teachers will leave with a customized lesson plan that includes scaffolded strategies, key vocabulary focus, and structured supports for various levels of English language proficiency.

Designed for School Leaders asking...

How can we strengthen differentiation practices so multilingual learners demonstrate measurable growth in both language development and academic achievement?

What assessment and feedback systems will ensure instruction is responsive to MLs’ needs and accelerates progress toward grade-level standards?

How do we build teacher capacity to consistently apply the assessment loop and targeted differentiation strategies that improve outcomes for multilingual learners?

This workshop helped me better understand the challenges families face and gave me practical strategies to strengthen communication and engagement. I now feel more confident in building supportive partnerships with families to improve student success.

We don’t just deliver workshops—we build long-term partnerships with schools and districts, working alongside educators to improve instructional practices and student outcomes over time.

We actively listen to educators’ unique contexts and experiences, using that insight to collaboratively design tailored solutions rather than pre-packaged sessions. Our team asks thoughtful questions, challenges assumptions, and continuously learns so we can help redefine what’s possible in teaching and learning.

Above all, we communicate authentically, foster positive and productive relationships, and bring a deep passion and commitment to education. The result is professional learning that feels purposeful, personalized, and truly transformative.
