Cultivating Grit in Our Students: Promoting Perseverance in the Classroom and Beyond

It’s no secret that passion and perseverance are essential to success, but we are currently seeing less and less of these traits in our students.

It’s no secret that passion and perseverance are essential to success, but we are currently seeing less and less of these traits in our students.  This decline, however, can be reversed if we recognize that grit is a performance value that can be taught.

In this workshop, participants will gain a deep understanding of what grit is, why it’s important for student success, and how it can be taught and cultivated in the classroom.  New research about grit and how it relates to achievement, motivation, and resilience will be explored.  Actionable and effective strategies will be shared to support participants as they work with students to promote grit, foster a growth mindset, set challenging goals, and provide feedback that encourages persistence.

Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues and share best practices for cultivating passion and perseverance.  Additionally, they will receive a toolkit of resources, activities, and strategies that can be put into practice immediately.  Participants will walk away from this workshop equipped with the tools needed to level up their instruction and help their students develop the grit they need to succeed within the classroom and beyond.
