Increasing Female Participation in Math, Science, and STEM Courses

This workshop breaks down all of the barriers of greater female participation in math, science, and STEM courses by providing specific suggestions for each challenge.

This workshop breaks down all of the barriers of greater female participation in math, science, and STEM courses by providing specific suggestions for each challenge. Participants will consider how to create early childhood programs that help level the gender-equity playing field, create beneficial mentorship programs, alter negative stereotypes, construct and reinforce female role models, and enlist the support of parents to increase the number of girls in math, science and STEM classes. Participants will return to their school systems armed with ideas, resources, and an action plan for enhancing female participation in district courses, beginning as early as kindergarten and continuing through higher grade levels.
