This workshop begins with an overview of the priority standards in ELA and their relationship to the NJ Start Strong Assessment. Participants will have the opportunity to explore grade level priority standards, prerequisites, and instructional considerations. Next, we will consider how to ensure a focus on these standards through all points in a lesson (warm up/do now, modeling, guided practice, formative assessment, independent practice and closure). Participants will develop a “next day” plan for instruction. Effective and targeted instructional strategies, along with support materials will be provided.
