Priority Standards and the NJ Start Strong Assessment in ELA

This workshop begins with an overview of the priority standards in ELA and their relationship to the NJ Start Strong Assessment.

This workshop begins with an overview of the priority standards in ELA and their relationship to the NJ Start Strong Assessment. The first part of the workshop involves an in- depth discussion of the NJ Start Strong construct, scoring and crosswalks. Participants will have the opportunity to explore grade level focus standards, prerequisites and supporting documents. An analysis of the released items used during the previous NJ Start Strong assessment will take place to further understand the expectations moving forward.  Participants will develop a “next day” plan for instruction. Effective and targeted instructional strategies, along with support materials will be provided. 


Note: It is highly recommended that an administrator attend to provide support moving forward.
