This course focuses on how teachers can improve student achievement by first re-focusing their perspectives on their students, their classroom, and their academic content. This workshop begins with a discussion about the definition of “attitude” and how it is crucial to high student achievement. For the achievement gap to close, the attitude gap must close first. We all know those students who strive for excellence as well as factors contributing to students who don’t.  We will explore the differences and how we leverage what is within our control. Specifically, participants will take a deep dive into research to understand what factors contribute to student motivation and performance.  Using hands-on activities, videoclips and application, these revelations will empower the teachers to develop strategies for improved teacher-student relationships to make students excited about themselves, learning, and success.
