We will discuss the need for thoughtful planning of how and when we check for understanding and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students.  We will explore strategies that use best practices for assessment, such as providing criteria for success and exemplars, planning lessons that provide evidence of learning, and incorporating self-assessment. Participants will review technology tools to ensure quality assessment practices to support student learning, when teaching face to face and in the virtual classroom.
